Method 3: Multiplication through Paper Arrays
What is it?
Allow students to explore and play with arrays made out of paper in order to increase conceptual understanding regarding multiplication.
Variation 1 - Hole Punches
Have students use a hole punch to punch holes in paper to make arrays. Students can even use the pieces punched out to create another array of the reciprocal fact.

Variation 2 - Paper Folding
Have students partition rectangular pieces of paper by folding them into many parts and then using multiplication to count how many boxes there are in total.
